Are you interested in Summer Strength Training? See your Phy Ed teacher for an informational flyer. 5. Lego League will meet after school tomorrow in Mr. Kretchmar’s room. 6. Thank you to all of the 8th graders who attended the field trip to the U of M. Tex was very impressed with your behavior and stated that you were one of the best groups to visit the campus! 7. Informational flyers are available in the office for this summer’s Panther Girls’ Basketball Camp.

1. Are you thinking of attending the Washington DC trip next year? If you are interested, there will be a Parent Meeting next Tuesday, May 22nd. It will start at 4:30 and last about 30 minutes. We will meet in Room 222 for the meeting. I hope you can make it! 2. 8th gr. Drumline members are reminded to turn in pizza money to Mrs. Seiler by next Monday. 3. All eighth grade Choir students should report to Room 182 at this time for their Large Group Choir rehearsal. 4. All Encore members should report to the high school choir room at 7:00 pm this evening. 5. All 8th grade Band students are reminded to bring your instrument and music home for tonight's Band Concert at the High School’s Fine Arts Center. 6. 8th gr. Drumline will not meet today after school due to this evening's Band Concert.

Summer Session registration forms were also due yesterday. If you haven’t returned yours, please do so no later than tomorrow. 5. 8th grade Drumline will meet today after school from 3:00-4:00 pm. 6. The following students have a book on hold in the Media Center that is ready for pick up: Destiny Scholes, Daniel Lukens, Musawwar Alvi, Peyton Kilian and Kathryna Gonzalez. 7. All 6th and 7th grade students are invited to sign up for the trip that will take place May of next year. Why sign up now for a trip that is next year? You will receive an early bird discount and have more time to pay off the trip. See your social studies teacher or Ms. Pouliot for more information. 2. Grab a quick lunch and come to the meeting today. 2. After you graduate high school and head off to that new place to work and study, what type of city do you want to be part of? Do you like the 'burbs? Want more of a city feel so you can reach all your destinations by walking? Or do you like the feel of the wide open spaces in a more rural location? After you graduate, will you return to walking the streets of Blaine, walking the halls of Westwood? Have you asked the adults around you so you can start a list of WMS grads? Get going today so you can identify those Panthers or Wildcats! Wear your college shirt tomorrow! 3. The University of Minnesota is like a small cityin which everyone has a major part to play. Just about every adult inour schoolbuilding has attended something at the U of M. Some buildings are very old and historic while at the same time they have new facilities for both sports and academics. Ask your Pride teacher to help you take a video tour sometime this week...they even have video contests with amazing winning products. Don’t forget to wear your college shirt on Friday! 4. As we get ready to send the eighth graders to the University of MN on Friday May 12, we want to show how all of us are working towards college and careers already today. Did you know that Westwood Middle School used to be Westwood Junior High? Only seventh and eighth graders attended the school which was attached to the old high school. The current Westwood School was builtalmost 40 years agoand was Westwood Junior High, home of the Wildcats! Start searching for some of those Wildcats and Westwood Panthers who have returned to roam around our school. Yes....many staff members are former Westwood students. Who are they? 4. 1. Congratulations to 8th gr. flutist Amira Shanaa! She will be rehearsing and performing in Fergus Falls this weekend at the Minnesota Band Directors Statewide Honor Band Festival. 2. All students attending "Hairspray" at the Chanhassen tonight need to meet in Room 180 at 4:00 p.m. Buses leave at 4:30 p.m. and return to school at 11:30 p.m. Make sure you have your ride waiting in the parking lot as the school will be locked and you will not be able to get in. 3. Attention Student Ambassadors who helped out with the 6th grade orientation on Tuesday night. Thank you for a job well done! However, a few student ambassador shirts were borrowed and not returned. If you forgot to return yours, please do so ASAP. 4. The following students have a book on hold in the media center that is ready for pickup: Aliah Jaramillo, Alex Geist and Dominique Troha.
