Designing the best possible schedule for 2011-2012
On August 24, the School Board approved the administration's recommendation to proceed with the planning and implementation of a new high school and middle school schedule (six-period day or its equivalent) for the 2011-12 school year.

The Board's consideration of a schedule change began in March when the budget development process identified yet another year of budget reductions and modifications ($1.5 million for 2009-10, $2.3 million for 2010-11, and projected $1.7 million for 2011-12).

In subsequent months, it has been determined that restructuring secondary class schedules would positively affect the budget by $600-775,000 annually; and determined by the Board to be preferable to increasing class size staffing allocations by six students for next year.
